Streamlabs OBS Facebook Streaming Fixes

We started exploring Facebook Live to share our creative process, but ran into a common issue—Streamlabs not connecting to Facebook properly. Our goal was to stream screen recordings from a browser or iPad (shoutout to Procreate users!) while including a webcam feed for real-time interaction.

That’s when we discovered Streamlabs OBS, a more user-friendly and polished version of OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). While it checks most of our boxes, we’ve experienced a few hiccups—especially with Streamlabs not connecting to Facebook. Since documentation is scarce, we decided to share a few fixes that worked for us.

How to Get Your Facebook Stream Key

If Streamlabs isn’t connecting to Facebook, the first thing to check is your Facebook Stream Key. Here’s how to find it:

1. Log in to Facebook.com

2. On the left sidebar, click Explore

3. Select Gaming Video

4. Click the Go Live button

5. Copy the Persistent Stream Key

Paste this key into Streamlabs under Settings > Stream > Stream Key.

Why You Can’t Go Live Without Choosing a Game

Wondering why Facebook won’t let you stream without selecting a game? It’s because Streamlabs uses the Facebook Gaming API, which currently requires a game selection. We usually choose a random game like “Facebook Messenger for iPhone” to bypass this issue.

How to Add or Edit Facebook Pages in Streamlabs

If Streamlabs isn’t connecting to your Facebook Page, it may be due to restricted permissions. Here’s how to fix it:

1. Go to your Facebook Business Integrations

2. Find Streamlabs OBS (SLOBS) and click View/Edit

3. Ensure all your Facebook Pages are selected for access

4. Save changes

Pro Tip: Try logging out and back in to refresh permissions (see below).

Still Having Trouble? Try Logging Out of Streamlabs

Sometimes, the fix for Streamlabs not connecting to Facebook is as simple as a logout.

In the Streamlabs app (not on the Facebook site), click the logout button at the bottom left. Then, log back in and reconnect your Facebook account.

Where Are My Streamlabs Recordings?

By default, Streamlabs saves your recordings in your Videos folder. You can change the format and quality in:

• Settings > Output > Recording

• Settings > Advanced > Recording

Final Thoughts

While Streamlabs OBS is powerful and accessible, it’s still in active development—which means bugs like Streamlabs not connecting to Facebook can pop up. Hopefully, future updates will smooth things out.

We’ll continue to update this post as new solutions emerge. In the meantime, if you need help setting up your own Streamlabs-to-Facebook streaming setup, drop us a message—we’re happy to help!
